Week of 9/8/14
We are working hard and moving quickly. Because of a shortened 2nd period, 4th period is about half a lesson ahead. Don't worry, both classes will soon be working on the same lessons at the same time. I have been very impressed with many of the students in HBS. You are staying for tutoring, working ahead, and are coming to class ready to work hard. I am very proud of you. I want each one of you to work even harder on your study habits. This course needs at LEAST 20 mins of study per day. We have a lot of terms and concepts to master this semester.
As for this week:
9/8- 1.2.2 Skeletal Scavenger Hunt: Complete in class. Turn in at the end of class 9/9.
9/9- Complete 1.2.2. 4th period use the extra time to STUDY.
9/10- You will have the opportunity to retake the quiz from Friday. Questions will be different, but the quiz will replace your lowest quiz grade. You have another opportunity to stay after school Tuesday 9/9 for tutoring before taking the quiz. We will begin Activity 1.2.3 Bone Detectives. You should complete 1.2.3 for homework. The 2 page criminal investigation report is due Tuesday. It should be written in APA format following APA guidelines. It will include 1 inch margins, 12 point font Times New Roman or Arial, double spaced with a page for references only. References should be in APA format. See an APA format generator like the one at https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/ .
9/11- Complete measurements and preparation for the report for 1.2.3.
9/12 Activity 1.3.1 DNA Detectives: We will be in and out of lab for the class period. Please follow instructions carefully. You will need to be dressed appropriately for lab. Gloves, goggles, aprons are required. Your feet should be covered, NO SANDALS, and legs must be covered down to the ankles (front and back of legs.) If you are not dressed appropriately, you will not be allowed into the lab and will receive a 0 for participation.
